We will quote wheel prices upon request. On this Page you will find wheels that are for light duty vehicles; buggies, carts, and wagons. At this time, we only build and repair roller bearing wheels in our shop, but in addition to our roller bearing wheels, we will quote prices on push cart wheels or vendor cart wheels. All other wheels will be sent out to be built or repaired. Our climate out west is drastically less humid than the east or mid west so we try to keep materials on hand long enough to have them acclimated. This helps minimize shrinkage which shows up so soon with eastern constructed wheels. We will rebuild your old wheels, but a somewhat common result in rebuilding old wheels is that when the new wood (spokes and/or felloes) are installed in an old hub, the wheel sometimes will have a tendency to "wobble" or not run true. The reason being is that when the wheel was built originally (and same is true of new wheels built today) the last operation performed is the boring of the boxing (the cast tapered sleeve placed inside the hub which runs on the axle spindle). This boring is performed last so the boxing is bored and pressed in square or true with the tire, resulting in a true running wheel. However, when new wood is installed in an old hub, this last step is not possible, because the boxing is already pressed into the hub in relationship to the former wheel. The way to alleviate the wobble problem then comes to replacing the hub also, which adds significant expense, and as many an Old Timer has remarked "You only notice it in a runaway and then you're not lookin' at the wheels anyway". If your old wheels are in too bad a shape to repair, it maybe cheaper and safer to go with a roller bearing wheel and axle stubs.
There are two areas we try to advise not to skimp on for safety sake; one is hitch equipment and the other is wheels, because when (not if) that wreck happens with that broke to death horse or mule, hitch equipment and wheels are not where you want to have half rotted out wood, balin' wire and sickle section shims.
If you have any questions about your wheels or need some prices on new wheels, feel free to contact us either by email or by phone.
